During seven years the festival has become widely known among residents and guests of Tbilisi. The New Wine Festival is now a very popular event in Tbilisi - a must for every wine-lover in Georgia. It is a place where tourists, experts and Georgians come together to have a wonderful day.
Festival's creator and a famous winemaker Iago Bitarishvili said: "The festival has become an important event in terms of marketing: this time it was specially visited by importers from France, Spain, the USA, Australia, Ukraine and Russia, wine journalists from different countries. No less important, the festival has become important both for the city and for the country in terms of tourism, because travel agencies specially plan tours to participate in it. "
Giorgi Samanishvili, the head of the National Wine Agency of Georgia, responding to the questions of Hvino News, said that he considers the festival as "a very important event, because all the wine regions of Georgia are represented in it, and practically all wine producers participate in it - large, medium, and small."
The first New Wine Festival, which took place in 2010, involved only 15 manufacturing companies, and at the event in 2016 there were already about 200 participants. According to organizers, the 2017 festival was the largest of all. The full list of participants of the festival was published earlier - see Tbilisi's New Wine Festival scheduled for May 13.
"It was our impression that there were more people then last year, which means the interest is growing. The overall presentation of the wineries was much more professional," - noted Berthold Seitz (Germany), the chief adviser to the National Wine Agency of Georgia.
Berthold Seitz praised the organizational level of the event and noted that "it would be good to hold such a festival twice a year so that in the autumn it would be possible to taste more mature wines."
