A few days ago, Georgian Forbes magazine published an interview with Schuchmann Wines' founder, 72 -year-old Burkhard Schuchmann (in Georgian language, see here). Schuchmann Wines' founder says in the article that his company will become a holding company for various types of businesses. "We will create strong Georgian brands and then will sell these brands abroad," - Mr. Schuchmann says about his plans for the future.
According to Nutsa Abramishvili, the holding will focus on two directions: tourism (hotel business) and agriculture (wine production).
In her words, due to the fact that interesting trends are observed in these two directions, the company's future plans are linked to these areas. As Abramishvili says, tourism sector is actively developing in the recent period, by almost 8 percent annually, accordingly, the sector has a great potential. Abramishvili and notes that wine production also has a great potential.
Abramishvili said that the company has benefited from "Agrocredit Program" in January 2014 and took a 1 percent loan to increase wine production (1-year grace period). Abramishvili says that this is an unprecedented event when the company receives such a low-interest loan. In his words, by the end of the year the company plans to take another loan within "Agrocredit Program", which will also be directed towards development of wine production.
