21.10.2013. Chairman of National Wine Agency Levan Davitashvili said that state-owned wine companies Akura and Gruzvinpromi will not produce branded wine. They will only provide wine stock to private companies, he noted.
State companies do not compete with private companies, “they have only reserve function”, Davitashvili declared. However, he found difficulty in naming of price and form of such activity.
According to Davitashvili, state companies accounted last year for 65% of total grapes’ purchases (i.e. for 36,000-37,000 t), while this year – for up to 17% (15,000 t).
