Good news from KTW - a new touristic site in the town of Mtskheta: The Georgian Chamber of Wine

02.08.2013. On July 27th, 2013 Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking company (KTW) opened one more beautiful building in the town of Mtskheta (near Tbilisi).  Located in the heart of the downtown, the Georgian Chamber of Wine was opened - the first of a kind in Georgia.

The Georgian Chamber of Wine has been designed for multiple purposes. In the four floors of building are:

In a basement floor there is the Marani of King Mirian with kvevris, where guests will have the opportunity to get to know about the Kakhetian traditional methods of winemaking, best known for its 8000-year continuous history. In addition, guests have the possibility to take photos sitting on the stylized copy of throne of King Mirian and Queen Nana, to try royal dishes prepared according to traditional recipes that have been found and recovered by our chef.

Ground floor is the very place of the wine chamber. Here experienced sommeliers will hold a wine tasting or a master classes. Tourists will be able to get complete information about rare and classic traditional grape varieties of Georgia in different languages. Tasting room will be offered for other big and small winemaking companies to present their products for free.

Second floor: there is a gourmet restaurant, where the emphasis will be taken on wine consumers with different taste and cultural differences. Upon request you will be served by professional sommelier. There is a bakery next to the restaurant, where you can see the process of baking of traditional Georgian bread shothispuri, as well to try Georgian barbecue and to learn about local cooking traditions.

The third floor will delight you with unique veranda with spectacular view to Mtskheta Town and Jvari Monastery, located on the top of the mountain, as well the beautiful Samtavro Monastery. The pleasure after tasting of fine wines on the veranda will leave unforgettable memories.

The Georgian Chamber of Wine surely will become a favorite destination for tourists, where every guest will have the opportunity to plan a wine tour to the other object of KTW - "Veranda Velistsikhe", which is located in the village of Velistsikhe in Kakheti. Here guests will have to participate in the process of winemaking and production of real Georgian chacha.
