Saakashvili’s insulting remarks may prompt Russia to pull out inspectors from Georgia (with video)

27.02.2013 (Hvino News) Russia's consumer protection watchdog Rospotrebnadzor may withdraw its inspectors from Georgia because of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili’s statements criticizing their work.

As a result of the yesterday's announcement made by Saakashvili on February 26,  Rospotrebnadzor may withdraw its inspectors from Georgia. "If the situation is not normalized, I will raise the issue of withdrawal of experts and will cease their work in Georgia," - Gennady Onishchenko, head of the agency, commented to Russian news agency Interfax. He says that until the abuse of Russian specialists continues, as well as other acts that impede the normal work, an issue on Russian experts’ early withdrawal will remain open.



"Comments voiced by head of the state whose status is doubtful, confirm fears due to which the Russian side demanded the guarantees of security and uninterrupted work in Georgian  enterprises for Russian specialists, - Gennady Onishchenko notes.

As for the President's remarks, Mikheil Saakashvili said on Georgian television that "Our officials standing on tiptoe and wine factories representatives pouring wine to Russian inspectors  with trembling hands and ingratiating look, whether they will  like Georgian wine". He said that this situation reminds him classical Russian comedy "Revizor (The Government Inspector)" by Nikolai Gogol. "But what they want – put  two kopeks  in their pockets. Do you think they arrived  to measure chemicals and do you really think that there is something in Georgian  wine? "- President notes.

In his words, Bavarian ham and sausage enter Russian market, but the Russians don’t inspect German factories. "If a Bavarian sausage enters the country without such examination, are we still in the Soviet Union, when officials arrived from Russia and we had to stand on all fours in front of officials to please them" – President says.
